Spotlight: Audyssey App
Denon and Marantz already have comprehensive abilities to turn blah-sounding rooms into audio showcases, with their implementations of Audyssey's suite of processing capabilities. Adding to this is the Audyssey MultEQ Editor App ($20 from the Apple or Android stores), allowing the further tweaking of problematic situations in the room. After all, we know that microphones supplied with these receivers are pretty good at what they do, but we also know that trained, experienced ears pick on things. By using the app judiciously to tame problematic boominess or provide a little tweak to improve dialogue intelligibility, the App can let you be in charge of what you hear. The Audyssey App shows before and after calibration. The App works by letting users examine the results of the room calibration when it's completed.
